Directions for use and dosage

A caring owner should know how to give Vetom to a cat. You can mix the medicinal powder with wet food or pate, dilute it in warm boiled water (38–40°C) and give the cat a syringe to drink, or give the cat an enema with Vetom solution.

Each form of medication has its own characteristics, so the drugs have slightly different instructions and recommendations.

Vetom 1.1 for cats. Instructions:

Available in the form of sachets of 5 g and 50 g.
The powder is dissolved in water (4–5 ml) or added to food.
Take orally 1 hour before meals.
Therapeutic dosage is 75 mg of powder per 1 kg of cat’s weight once a day or 50 mg per 1 kg every 12 hours. It must be given until recovery.
For the treatment of viral diseases, the medicine is given 4 times a day in the same dosage.
Prophylactic dosage - 50 mg per 1 kg of cat weight; should be given once every 48 hours for 10 days.

For rectal use of Vetom for cats, you will need a urethral catheter No. 14. You need to cut off the cannula and leave only the tube. Then pour a slightly warm Vetom solution into a syringe, replace the needle with a silicone tube from the catheter, carefully insert the catheter into the anus and inject the medicine.

Dangerous viral diseases in cats

The diseases listed above primarily affect animals with reduced immunity, small kittens, and unvaccinated cats. Many of them are fatal without treatment.

With calcivirosis, the mortality rate reaches 30%; the disease is typical only for cats and is not dangerous for people. The virus affects the upper respiratory tract and is spread by airborne droplets through contact with a sick animal. A person can bring a dangerous virus into the house on their clothes, so even domestic cats can become infected. The infection is most severe when animals are kept in groups.

The acute course of the disease is observed in small kittens; adult cats often experience the disease asymptomatically. The incubation period is 2-15 days, symptoms appear 3 days after infection:

sneezing;
lacrimation;
inflammation of the mucous membrane of the eyes.

A little later they are joined by:

increased body temperature;
weakness;
refusal to eat;
nasal congestion;
thick mucous or purulent discharge from the nose;
ulcers in the mouth.

Treatment involves taking antibiotics, which disrupts the balance of beneficial and harmful microorganisms in the pet's intestines. To restore it, Vetom is prescribed in addition to the main treatment.

Distemper, otherwise known as panleukopenia, is a viral infectious disease characterized by high mortality. In kittens, the mortality rate is more than 90%; adult cats with good immunity have a high chance of recovery, but remain carriers of the virus.

The main symptoms of plague:

heat;
damage to the heart and gastrointestinal tract;
general intoxication of the body;
dehydration.

In the acute course of the disease, deterioration occurs quickly, the temperature reaches 41° and above, the pet refuses food. The infection is accompanied by greenish-yellow vomit that may contain mucus and blood. The feces take on a foul odor.

The disease is accompanied by severe abdominal pain, dehydration, and the cat sits by a bowl of water and does not drink. The animal quickly loses weight, the coat becomes dull. Possible coma. The rapid course of panleukopenia leads to the sudden death of the pet; a mild form of the disease manifests itself as malaise and ends with recovery, but the cat remains a virus carrier.

Antibiotics are also used in the treatment of other infectious diseases. The dietary supplement supports the functions of the digestive system, alleviates the animal’s condition during the period of fighting the disease, and strengthens the body’s protective functions.

Contraindications and side effects of the drug

Side effects almost never occur if the dosage is strictly followed. In rare cases, side effects appear from taking Vetom powder. Cats may experience diarrhea and flatulence, or increased pain in inflamed organs.

There are very few contraindications to using Vetom. This medication may cause allergies in sensitive animals.

As a formative substance, the preparation uses corn syrup in the form of sublimate, starch and powdered sugar. The drug is available in the following packaging - bags from 2 to 500g or polymer jars of 50-5000g.

The drug is stored at a temperature not exceeding 300C. No more than two years from the date of production. Open containers are stored for no more than two weeks. The dissolved drug must be used immediately; further storage is unacceptable.
