Like many other brands, the Sanabelle range of German cat food includes a special dry food for castrated and sterilized cats - Sanabelle Sterilized. Experts have different opinions about whether it is necessary to switch animals to a special diet after surgery. Some believe that this is necessary to prevent obesity, while others recommend focusing on the condition of the animal.
We are inclined to agree with the opinion of the second group, because not all cats become less active and gain weight after surgery. And besides, very often food intended for sterilized animals does not differ in any significant way from other diets of the same brand.
Let's see if the product's characteristics surprise us in any way. An analysis of the composition of Sanabelle Sterilized should reveal all the pros and cons of this food.
About the main thing: animal proteins
In the top five, we found only two sources of animal protein - they occupy places No. 1 and No. 4. Ingredient No. 1 on the label is designated as fresh poultry meat. In fact, the English name Fresh Poultry does not contain the word “meat”, which means that the translation embellishes the ingredient. The manufacturer states that the food contains at least 20% fresh poultry, and this is the only component whose proportion is clearly indicated in the composition. We will not take the word “minimum” into account, because it is completely impossible to judge the maximum, so we will only take into account the number 20.
In fourth place is “poultry meat” - this translation is also erroneous. In English, this ingredient is called Poultry Meat Meal, that is, poultry meal. These are fundamentally different products - you can read a description of the technology for producing such flour in the Sanabelle Sterilized card by clicking on the component.
Ingredients labeled in general terms (for example, simply “poultry” and any of its derivatives) are generally undesirable, since vaguely specified ingredients allow the manufacturer to change the diet formula, for example, using first one type of poultry, then another, without the buyer knowing about it.
Dry cat food Bosch - reviews

Bosch makes two types of food - Sanabel and Premium. I tried giving my cat both. He devoured everything with great appetite. But if you dig deeper, only Sanabel food deserves attention; this is a real premium class that does not contain plant proteins, soy and other components unnatural for cat nutrition. The composition is described in more detail, it is indicated exactly what meat is taken as a basis. In Premium, corn was found, cereals are in the first place in the list of ingredients, the composition as a whole is written somehow vaguely. The biggest problem is the presence of cellulose. On the one hand, this is good, intestinal motility is perfectly stimulated, and constipation does not occur. But this is not suitable for all cats; to properly digest cellulose, you need a completely healthy stomach.
Bosch food is easy to find on sale. The range is good, there are options not only for different ages and different lifestyles, but also for cats with special needs. Both lines of food have a very strong unusual smell, I have never encountered this before. The granules are medium in size and easy to chew.

I feed Bosch Sanabel to both cats, one British, one selected. Both eat it with pleasure. The youngest British girl ate it all her childhood, now I switched her to another type of food of the same, because she has grown up, I am very pleased with the look of the cats, their fur, it doesn’t climb at all, both are cheerful, happy cats, very active, eat very well , for some reason many cats like him.

Our entire nursery is located in Sanabel. Since we buy a lot, we buy from the official representative and in 10 kg bags. , the benefits are certainly obvious.
Before BOSCH we sat on nutra gold.
The difference was immediately noticed in the quality of wool, especially in exotics. I like Sanabel better.
Some cats switched painlessly from nutra to BOSCH, others reacted in the gastrointestinal tract, but all gradually rebuilt.

I feed my cat (Scottish Straight, 5 months) Bosch Sanabel kitten food. There are no problems, the cat eats with pleasure. Interesting fact: the food sold in Germany contains neither barley nor corn. And our packaging has a different design. Not blue, but white.

I feed Sanabelle Kitten - a very good food for children up to one year old, premium class with all that it implies. But what is most pleasing is the price-quality ratio. In Russia, of course, the situation with prices for elite or simply good food is different than here, and Sanabelle is produced here, so it costs one and a half times cheaper than other food of the same class (a 10-kilogram package is the cheapest based on kilogram - 35-36 euro package, convert it into rubles yourself, I don’t know the exact exchange rate). The cat cracks it with a whistle, the food has a pleasant smell (I have the packaging on the table along with our products))), it tastes somewhat like caviar (tried it), there are no problems with digestion, the stool is perfectly designed. You asked about the size of the croquettes - they are small, delicately crispy.

As a cat breeder with 18 years of experience, I can say that I am very pleased with the food. We have tried many brands of dry food. With Sanabelle Hair&Skin, animals look good, well-groomed, and their fur is shiny. And this is important for exhibitions. My tailed cats eat it with pleasure, even kittens of 1.5 months. they start trying it. Cats also like their stool, there is no foul smell and it is well-formed.

Advantages:
normalizes digestion, the coat looks better, the cat eats with pleasure, good stool
Flaws:
did not find
They didn’t come to this food right away. This was our second cat, the first one was fed natural food and sometimes given whiskey and kiteket: (this is what ruined her. The cat started having problems with her kidneys and liver, which were not cured in the end.
The second cat appeared by chance; they couldn’t get past the gnawed one on the street. At first she was also fed natural food, but when it was not possible to cook for her, she was no longer given cat McDuck, but bought a package of dry food, at first it was royal, but as production changed, the cat herself began to refuse it. Well, when I was choosing a new one, I decided to go with Sanabel, because 1. German, for me this = quality, 2. one factory, family-owned, i.e. they have to doubly monitor this same quality.
At first we took a small pack of Sanabelle Adult with Bird, since they only gave it sometimes. But then the cat began to demand it more and more, refusing natural food. First they soaked it, then they began to leave it more dry.
Thanks to the fact that the food contains cellulose (which everyone is very afraid of for some reason), the cat has fewer problems with hairballs. She started spitting them up less and they are eliminated naturally. The stool became regular and not so smelly)) The fur became shiny, and the weight returned to normal. Before this, she had already begun to gain weight, since she sits at home and does not go outside.
And most importantly, this food does not use meat flour, but fresh poultry meat.
Now we take a large package, 10 kg, it lasts a long time.
Potato expanse
The “No Grain” symbol on the food label informs the consumer that it contains no grain. This is initially perceived as a plus, but a review of Sanabelle's formulation for sterilized cats revealed some disappointing details. It turned out that the diet is still very high in carbohydrates and vegetable protein, because the other three ingredients in the top five are potato derivatives (No. 2 is potato flakes, No. 3 is potato flour, and No. 5 is isolated vegetable protein from potato tubers).
It is obvious that in total there are more potatoes in the diet than poultry. The manufacturer used a triple “split” of potato derivatives to be able to put fresh poultry at the top of the ingredient list.
Food for neutered cats
A fairly large number of reviews from both owners and veterinarians relate to keeping cats after castration. A problem such as rapid weight gain after surgery becomes a real threat to the life and health of the pet. The fact is that any operation puts the animal in a stressful state. But castration also produces some hormonal changes in the body. That is why the cat’s diet should be as balanced as possible in order to avoid any unpleasant consequences.
Many owners noted that it was the transition to Sanabelle food that allowed them to bring their pet to a completely healthy state. And with a daily diet consisting only of vitamins (postoperative recovery of the body) and specialized food, it allowed the pet not to gain excess weight. On the contrary, to achieve a more “athletic” shape.
Sanabelle Delicious
What about the fat in Sanabelle?
The food contains several sources of fat: fish oil, animal fat, and flaxseed. It is not indicated from what raw materials the animal fats are obtained.
Pure fat in the Sanabelle diet for castrates is only 9.5%, but the food contains 40.2% nitrogen-free extractive substances - this is probably due to the large dosage of potatoes. These are, in essence, sugars and starch, which, for example, when fattening farm animals, are considered the main components for fattening.
We doubt that food with this composition can maintain a normal weight for cats after sterilization, and the inscription “Weight Control” on the packaging looks strange.
Positive effects of food for pregnant cats
In most reviews from owners whose cats had a rather difficult pregnancy, there are exclusively positive comments regarding her state of health, both during pregnancy and during lactation when using Sanabelle. The fact is that a nursing cat in most cases “gives” all the useful vitamins and minerals from her body to her beloved kittens. That is why it is necessary to feed both the child and their loving mother.
Any problems with the health of a nursing cat, according to the breeders, have been resolved “in the bud,” which means that Bosch Sanabel food really has all the necessary components for the proper development of animals.
Overview of other feed ingredients
Sanabelle Sterilized contains hydrolyzed protein (No. 6). It is completely unclear what this ingredient is derived from. Animal hydrolysates are often used as a concentrated flavoring additive. Place No. 7 in the composition belongs to a natural flavor enhancer - dried liver (Liver (dehydrated)), which in Russian translation for some reason was simply called “liver”. The source of the raw materials is again not specified.
The composition contains two isolated sources of fiber - these are coarse and undesirable cellulose fibers in ready-made diets (Cellulose Fibres), incorrectly translated into Russian as “fiber”, as well as beet pulp, which is useful for digestion. Sources of prebiotic fiber include dehydrated yeast (contains mannan-oligosaccharides) and chicory powder (a source of inulin).
There are many additives on the ingredient list. Peas, yeast, cranberries and blueberries were added to the composition in dried form, but for some reason this clarification was missed when translated into Russian. Mussel flour contains substances that are beneficial for joints, but its exact amount in the diet is unknown, so it is unlikely that you can count on its effect.
While researching vitamin and mineral supplements, we saw the ingredient “iodine (as calcium iodide, anhydrous).” This is an incorrect translation, since the compound is called Iodine (as calcium iodate, anhydrous), that is, anhydrous calcium iodate. We have provided the correct information on the food card.
It is unclear what exactly the diet is preserved with - it simply says “antioxidant”, without details, so it may well be a synthetic preservative.
Feeding standards
The feeding rate when establishing a cat’s diet depends on several factors, such as: the weight of the animal, its activity and the goal that needs to be achieved when feeding (to reduce the cat’s weight or maintain it). The appropriate feeding rate is calculated in grams per animal weight as follows:
- An animal weighing from 2 to 3 kg should receive from 35 to 45 grams of feed per day to maintain weight. If it is necessary to reduce the weight of your pet, you should reduce these figures to 30-40 grams per day;
- Weight 4-5 kg – to maintain it, 55-65 g of feed per day, to reduce it – 45-55 g/day;
- Weight 6-7 kg – to maintain 70-80 g/day, to reduce 60-70 g/day;
- Weight 8 or more kg – to maintain 85 g/day, to reduce 70 g/day.
The animal's nutrition can be regulated if the cat is too active and spends a lot of time outside the home: it is allowed to add a few grams to the specified norm. The food should be stored at room temperature in the manufacturer's packaging.
Sanabelle Sterilized: quality in question
In general, the composition of this product raises more questions and doubts than confidence in quality. The first five ingredients are a combination of 20% fresh poultry of unknown species, some poultry meal with three potato derivatives (flakes, flour and potato protein).
There are vague ingredients listed in general terms - primarily derivatives of unknown poultry species, as well as hydrolyzed protein, liver, fish oil, animal fat, antioxidant.
Many inaccuracies in the translation have been identified, and there are marketing tricks involving embellishment of components. Accordingly, for all the reasons stated above, Sanabelle dry food for sterilized cats did not take a high place in our rating, and its score turned out to be quite modest.
Advantages and disadvantages
Sanabelle food has been known among consumers for quite some time. During this time, the positive and negative aspects of the product were identified. Among the advantages are the following:
- meat ingredients serve as the main source of protein. This point plays a big role for the health of cats;
- Contains no ingredients such as corn, wheat or corn gluten. They are replaced by potato derivatives, which is especially important for reducing the amount of carbohydrates;
- a sufficient portion is allocated for minerals, vitamins and other beneficial substances;
- the product line is very diverse;
- Availability: You can find it in almost any pet store.
Among the negative points are the following:
- the use of generalized concepts: the word “poultry” may contain not only meat products;
- the antioxidants and preservatives mentioned at the end of the list are not specified;
- The food belongs to the super premium class, so it is quite expensive.
Price of Bosch Sanabelle food in the online store
The price of the feed depends on the form of its packaging. The dry version is available in three volumes: 0.4 kg, 2 kg and 10 kg. There is also some difference in price between food that differs in composition, which varies depending on the purpose; for example, food for sterilized and large cats will cost more than standard food for adult pets.
On average, the price of dry food varies within the following limits:
- 0.4 kg – cost from 390 rub. up to 600 rub.
- 2 kg – cost from 1600 rub. up to 2630 rub.

Recommendations for use of Bosch Sanabelle cat food
First, when giving Sanabelle cat food (veterinarian reviews complement the ideal characteristics of the product), make sure that your pet is always provided with fresh water at room temperature.
Secondly, dry food can remain in the bowl all day. Your pet can determine when to eat.
Thirdly, choose cat food based on the individual characteristics of the animal. Bosch Sanabelle offers a range of foods differentiated according to the age and special needs of your pet. For overweight animals, a low-calorie food with a lightweight formula is ideal.
