Main features of mating cats and male cats

Possible problems when knitting

Males do not always accept a partner for mating, even if she is in heat. This problem may occur for the following reasons:

  • the new environment causes stress in some cats. First they must adapt. Animals usually feel better in their own territory;
  • the male is not able to penetrate the female due to immaturity and lack of experience, but he can jump on her and move characteristically. It happens that hairs of fur accumulate around the circumference of the head of the genital organ, making penetration difficult. The male eliminates this problem on his own, or his owner turns to a veterinarian for help;
  • Certain conditions can lower testosterone levels. This leads to a lack of desire in cats for the opposite sex.

How to find out if a cat is pregnant after mating7

Unfortunately, there are no pregnancy tests for cats. The owner will have to rely on psychological and physical signs of conception.

Table. Symptoms of pregnancy in a cat

Signs of pregnancyDetailed description
Not in heatFrom 2 times a month to 1 time every 3 months. If the expected date is approaching, and the animal does not show any signs of readiness to mate with the cat, most likely she will soon become a mother. Do not forget that estrus can also occur during pregnancy - at 3-6 weeks. Therefore, it is not worth judging the occurrence of pregnancy only by this sign.
Nipples change colorThey are usually flesh-colored or slightly darker. During pregnancy, the nipples become bright pink. This is especially noticeable when the cat is preparing to become a mother for the first time.
Drowsiness, weakness, lack of desire to play or frolicJust like humans, cats have hormonal changes during pregnancy. Therefore, there is a change in mood, behavior, taste preferences
Behavior changeThe pet becomes overly caring, demands more attention and affection from the owner, begins to spend a lot of time in the same place and arrange it
Tummy roundingAt the same time, the cat does not look blurry, as is the case with obesity.

It is worth noting that before 21 days it is not possible to find out whether a cat will become a mother. The first signs of conception and the possibility of an ultrasound will appear only after the specified period.

The cat does not become pregnant after mating

Not all cat weddings end with pregnancy and the birth of offspring. In order for everything to end happily, a number of conditions must be met. For example, if this is the first mating for both partners, then most likely there will be no kittens as a result. It is necessary that one of the pair, preferably a cat, be experienced. Otherwise, the cat and cat will take a long time to find a common language, moreover, the groom may injure his partner. Even if everything went well at first glance, pregnancy may still not occur for an inexperienced couple.

If all the conditions are met, the wedding took place, but pregnancy did not work out either the first or subsequent times, you must definitely contact a veterinarian - the cat needs to be examined by a specialist. Obstacles to successful fertilization may include:

  • numerous diseases;
  • gynecological inflammation;
  • tubal obstruction;
  • all kinds of infectious diseases;
  • use of sedatives during previous estrus; progesterone deficiency;
  • changes in hormonal levels, etc.

It often turns out that the cause of infertility is ordinary obesity, or vice versa, lack of weight. In any case, the true reason why a furry beauty cannot become a mother must be determined by a doctor. You should not self-medicate, as this can lead to a deterioration in the cat’s condition, or even death. A timely visit to a specialist is a great chance for a complete recovery, elimination of the cause of infertility and a successful pregnancy.

After the completion of the cat wedding, it is logical to assume that the cat will calm down and stop howling its mating chants. What to do if the bride does not calm down and continues her amorous behavior? Should it be this way, or should it be different?

If nothing has changed in the cat’s behavior immediately after the wedding, this is completely normal. After all, her body cannot immediately realize that pregnancy has occurred and immediately stop producing the hormone responsible for reproduction and begin producing progesterone, which controls pregnancy. Estrus will continue for the time that nature has determined for a particular cat. For example, if estrus lasted a week before pregnancy, then after mating, even if pregnant, it will last exactly seven days.

How to determine pregnancy

The main symptom is the immediate disappearance of sexual heat. If the estrus does not stop, the cat does not become pregnant.

An indirect indicator is behavior change. The cat stops screaming, becomes affectionate, rubs against its owners all the time and demands attention. But it is only possible to determine conception in the early stages with high reliability using ultrasound.

From the third week, some external changes appear: the nipples swell and acquire a bright pink color. The cat eats a lot and with appetite, gains weight and sleeps constantly.

A pregnant cat moves little and sleeps a lot

In the fourth week, you can carefully palpate the lower part of the tummy. Small lumps can be felt there

This procedure should be done as gently as possible so as not to cause pain to your pet.

Possible difficulties

Each cat has its own character. Features of behavior: fearfulness, aggressiveness, arrogance - can interfere with successful mating.

If the cat is afraid of the cat and wants to hide, you can leave them in a room where there are no hard-to-reach places, and put a carrier in which the cat will feel safe and calm.

The size of the partners matters. If the cat is much larger than the cat, and he has short legs, he will not be able to jump on her or reach the vaginal opening.

Cats tend to fall over on their side at the most critical moment, and it is more difficult for the cat to cover it.

If the owner is present during the mating, he can try to hold the cat, but this must be done carefully so as not to scare the cat away

It happens that during mating, the denticles on the cat’s organ tear out the hair from the cat’s body and fall into a ring. Usually the cat is a good licker, but sometimes he cannot remove it himself, and this makes copulation difficult. The owner must ensure that this does not happen and remove the ring of hair himself or contact a veterinarian.

In some cases, partners simply don't like each other. If a cat had a bad experience with a cat of a similar color, or such a cat scared him in childhood or scratched him, then by association he will not want to make contact. There are cats that choose one partner and refuse to mate with others. You can try to choose a cat with a similar exterior, but it is not a fact that the idea will lead to the desired result.

An inexperienced cat may not be able to complete sexual intercourse the first time - you need to leave the couple together for a longer time. The same method helps when a cat goes into heat due to stress when moving to a male cat. Just give it some time and the cycle will resume.

During the first heat of the year (late winter - early spring), cats rarely ovulate, even if the cat successfully ovulates it. Therefore, pregnancy does not occur. It is better to wait a few weeks until the second wave of sexual conscription.

To perform sexual intercourse, the cat needs to feel confident and be in a familiar environment, otherwise he will not be able to perform coitus.

The reason for refusal on the part of the cat is low levels of hormones. This is a rather rare case, since cats do not lose the ability to copulate even when their hormonal levels are reduced by half.

False pregnancy

A false pregnancy is a condition in which a cat exhibits symptoms similar to a true pregnancy, but conception has not occurred. The reasons may be mating with a sterile cat, a malfunction in the female’s body, or being near a pregnant or lactating cat. In the latter case, the causes of false pregnancy are psychological, due to the instinct of reproduction.

Ovulation occurs, in place of the egg a “corpus luteum” is formed, which provokes hormonal activity and preparation for the birth of offspring: appetite increases, the belly grows. After two months, milk will be released from the mammary glands, and if there are kittens from another mother nearby, the cat will feed them. This phenomenon is aimed at increasing the survival of the species in the wild, and is more typical of school animals, so it is not as common among cats as in dogs.

False pregnancy is not a disease. Manifestations are mitigated by sedatives and mild hormonal medications prescribed by a veterinarian. However, regular symptoms negatively affect the cat’s psyche and character, as well as healthy hormonal levels. Therefore, in such cases it is worth considering complete sterilization.

How do street animals reproduce?

In the active phase, the female’s body begins to produce a hormonal secretion with a specific odor; sexually mature males flock to the emitted aroma. The cats begin to fight for the right to mate with the cat, the animals scream loudly, arch their backs, and get into fights.

The female watches the fight, selecting a partner; it can be the cat she likes or the winner of the fight. The cat's tactics boil down to trying to get close to the object of desire. The cat gradually approaches the female, trying not to look at her; when approaching as close as possible, the cat screams angrily; if the female does not show aggression, mating occurs.

The cat is limping, crying in pain, won’t sit on its butt – what is this?

First of all, it is necessary to examine the female for bites and deep scratches. Cats, in the heat of passion, grab the bride by the back of her head, neck, and scruff with their teeth, scratching her in order to hold her in place during coitus. This is why all breeders recommend trimming their pets’ nails before breeding in order to somehow minimize injuries.

In the article about mating it was already written that you should not organize a meeting between two virgins, otherwise injuries cannot be avoided. Inexperienced animals can adapt to each other for a long time, the cat does not succeed, but at the same time he is not able to lose his long-awaited sexual partner and holds her by all possible means (teeth and claws).

It is quite possible that the couple was disturbed during boarding, they jerked in surprise, fell off somewhere and the cat could have damaged something.

Pairing

During estrus, the female makes special sounds, purrs and crouches to the floor. When she is located towards her partner, she takes a special pose, arches her back and moves her tail. The male holds her by the withers with his teeth and covers her. Sexual intercourse lasts several seconds. If this is your first mating, then it will be important to find out in advance how the cat behaves after mating. She pushes the cat away, makes characteristic high-pitched screams, begins to lick herself furiously and demonstrates her reluctance to continue communication. In some cases, she may show aggression and attack. In others it is simply secluded. Sometimes owners wonder why the cat tumbles after mating.

There is no need to be afraid of such behavior. The cat behaves this way after mating not because she is in pain. It’s just that nature very wisely doses the sexual desire of females. In this case, it has fulfilled its function, and repeated sexual intercourse will become possible only after some time. Usually, in order for pregnancy to occur with a 99% probability, cats are bred three times, on the second or third day of ovulation. Another option is to allow animals to mate during the three most favorable days of estrus.

The nuances of the first mating

Significant difficulties may arise when a pet mates for the first time. There are certain features in how to match a cat with a cat for the first time. First of all, it is necessary that at the time of mating the pet is one year old; if the animal is purebred, then at least 1.5 years old. The event should be carried out only in the territory of the male. The pet should be brought to the first mating already on the first day of estrus, since an inexperienced animal needs more time to adapt to a new place and get used to the male.

In this case, the choice of cat is important. The animal must be experienced

Under no circumstances should a cat's first mating be with a male who has never mated before. In this case, both inexperienced (not untied) animals can not only disrupt the “date” and mating will not take place, but also receive mental and even physical trauma.

Rules for choosing a partner and preparing animals

The choice of a female for a male must be approached with great responsibility, since the quality and quantity of kittens, genetic features, and the successful outcome of the mating itself will depend on the correct choice of partners. If the cat has already had sexual experience, it is worth looking at what the offspring from his previous matings were like.

The best choice would be a prepotent animal, since such a partner will be able to pass on the best genetic set to the kittens. To achieve the best litter from mating a cat with a cat, it is recommended to consult a specialist when choosing a partner.

Before mating, animals need to trim their claws so that they do not injure each other. It is not recommended to perform hygiene procedures on pets, much less bathe them using scented hygiene products. Individuals should exude a natural scent, this increases the likelihood that they will be able to make friends, and the mating will take place with the desired result.

It is recommended to carry out mating in the territory of the male.

In order for the female to feel comfortable in new conditions, you need to bring her litter tray, bowls for food and water, as well as food if it becomes known that the cat eats a different type of industrial diet.

The container with the cat is placed in the middle of the room and left with the door open. Forcibly pulling a cat out of such a shelter is strictly prohibited. The female must calm down on her own and begin exploring the territory. If you force a cat out, it may become very frightened and then refuse to leave the container at all.

When mating purebred cats, you need to take into account a number of nuances. So, for example, a fold-eared cat can only happen to a cat whose ears are straight, otherwise genetic abnormalities cannot be avoided in the resulting litter.

Folk remedies and methods to stop a cat from screaming and stop wanting a cat

Unfortunately, these methods provide only a relatively short-term effect. However, this will give you and your pet a break during this difficult period for your cat. I would like to hope that these folk remedies and methods will make life easier for you and your pet.

  • Soak your cat's bottom in cool or cold water for a short time, one to two minutes. This will calm the cat down for a while.
  • Underwater, wet the cat generously. - After this procedure, she will lick herself for a very long time (up to 4 hours), as a result of which she will lose a lot of strength and become distracted. This folk method is best used closer to night.
  • A proven folk remedy is to dilute a little vinegar in water to make the solution sour, and give the cat a drink.
  • You need to masturbate the cat, using an imitation of the cat’s grip on the cat’s withers. Helps. This is advice from an experienced veterinarian.
  • Take a little butter and spread it on the cat’s face, this will calm the animal for a while - the cat will lick itself for a long time, will be distracted and tired.
  • Add a small amount of baking soda to the milk - on the tip of a teaspoon and let it drink.
  • Take 50 grams of vodka and forcefully pour it into your mouth. It's better to do it before night - there won't be a sound at night.
  • Take a quarter of a tablet of diphenhydramine and a tablet of valerian, crush it all, mix it and feed it to the cat. This will calm the cat down for the next 24 hours.
  • Give your cat a regular, unopened bottle of valerian.
  • Anoint with soda solution
  • Place a large copper plate in a cup of water where the cat drinks from and do not remove it while the cat is going through this period.

Naturally, there are many more folk remedies used to calm a cat during heat, when she screams and asks for a cat, but we have listed the most effective of them here. We hope that these most effective folk remedies will help you so that you can significantly alleviate the suffering of your beloved cat during estrus, so that she stops wanting a cat, does not scream or meow.

She will undoubtedly be very grateful for your help!

A cute kitten that appears in the house one day turns into a cat that wants to go for a walk and loudly tells the household about it. The pet’s anxiety is growing, heating up the situation in the family. If the animal is not allowed outside, the whole family does not get enough sleep. Is it possible to calm down a cat if she asks for a cat or should she look for a groom and then distribute numerous offspring? Many owners are inclined to think about sterilization, others fiercely defend the animal’s right to privacy. How to get out of this situation with minimal losses will be discussed below.

Mating rules

Estrus in cats: when does it start and how long does
it last? Pet breeders who want offspring, especially for the purpose of selling purebred representatives, need to know all the rules and nuances of how cats mate. To carry out fertilization competently, animal owners should have sufficient knowledge and skills on zoological as well as genetic issues. It is necessary to be aware of all the legal subtleties regarding the registration of newborn babies.

Often, unprofessional owners make a number of mistakes related to choosing suitable partners. The question of how cats intercourse should be approached very carefully. It is better to select several potential males in advance of mating, because the other half may not accept one of the cats. Having backup options, all efforts will not be in vain, and precious time will not be wasted.

Before the process of mating a male or female, all subtleties and nuances must be discussed. If breeding is required, you should stop searching for partners using advertisements. In this case, it is best to deal with this issue in a professional club, where they will not allow the breed to mix due to accidental connections with a non-purebred representative.

The main thing that experts pay attention to first is:

  • the animal should not be a relative, up to the third generation;
  • healthy appearance and color;
  • the estimated color of the kitten's fur, based on cat genetics;
  • partners' blood type. Cats have three of them. It is important that the parents of the future offspring have the same blood type, either A and A/B. Blood types B and A/B are also allowed, in addition to A and B. With the latter option, there is a risk of kittens being born with health problems.

How to prepare for mating

To prepare for successful mating, you should carefully monitor the condition of your furry pet. At the very beginning of the hunt, it is necessary to deliver the cat to the partner. An unfamiliar place can cause stress in the female, which may cause her to stop estrus.

Signs of a fertilized individual: the cat stops fawning, rolling on the floor, screaming, and calmly bears the offspring.

Post-mating behavior of cats

When cats mate, you may notice behavior similar to aggression.

After copulation, your cat will exhibit a variety of behaviors that may seem unusual for your pet. Your usually calm and regal cat may act aggressively even towards you.

After mating is complete, the queen drives the cat away, especially if the latter tries to linger. This may be due to female hormones. In addition, the cat may try to mate the queen when she is not yet ready.

After the cat is chased away, the queen grooms herself, including her genitals. Soon after, she will roll on the ground and begin calling out to potential mates. It may only take half an hour before the queen is ready to mate again.

When a cat is in heat, she tries to take advantage of this one to two day period and mate three to four times. Moreover, queens in heat are not picky about who they mate with. In fact, it is not uncommon for a litter to have different fathers.

How does a cat behave during its first sexual experience?

If cats mature for procreation at the age of 8 months, and their sexual maturity is pronounced, then in cats everything is a little different. They mature by 9 months and, unlike cats, do not show aggression, but, on the contrary, become overly gentle towards their owners.

A cat that has started walking is strikingly different in its manners - it will walk in circles around the male, fawn over him, and its poses will be quite specific. A cat may mark its territory in the house with urine.

Sexual activity among representatives of the cat world varies and depends on the breed. Cats living at home have a shorter period of sexual activity than indoor cats. The estrus period also depends on the time of year. In winter it lasts no more than 5 days, in summer – several weeks.

During the first intercourse, the cat will behave passively. Some individuals may not allow the cat to approach them at all for the first time, showing increased aggression. Mostly Sphynx and Scottish cats behave this way. The possibility of childbearing remains in females up to 8 years.

Knitting at home

A nulliparous female may behave too aggressively during her first mating and cause serious injury to her partner. Therefore, his owner must initially take this fact into account and think carefully about whether it is worth exposing his pet to such a risk. For successful mating, it is necessary to provide suitable conditions:

  • A separate room is needed in which the female must spend several hours alone; this is done to develop a new territory.
  • There should be a portable cage in the house to house an aggressive animal in an emergency.
  • If this is the cat’s first mating, then a mating partner must be selected with experience in breeding.
  • The estrus period should not come to an end, otherwise copulation may not occur.

The ideal time for mating is the first three days of estrus. At such a moment, the mating process will not take long to happen. Some cats experience stress when they leave their home. Because of this, estrus may stop for a short time. In this case, the cat needs to be petted more often to return it to its previous state. It is best to pet the animal in the tail area

The most important thing is to arouse the cat's interest with the help of smell.

If the cat resists and does not allow the partner to approach, then the animals should be left alone for a certain period of time so that they get used to each other. To quickly get acquainted, they need to be fed together, this way they get used to it much faster. You should not delay the days of dating; a maximum of one day is given for this, so that the cat has time to impregnate the partner before the end of the heat.

When mating cats of different breeds, it is important to note that incorrect crossing can lead to mutation of the fetus. The fold-eared breed can only be mated with a cat that has straight ears.

Otherwise, genetic deformities are possible.

Mating cats - features and stages

It is impossible to predict in advance how the first acquaintance between a female and a male will go. Animals may immediately like each other, or they may show unmotivated aggression.

In order for pets to become friends faster, mating should be carried out in a separate, closed room.

Moreover, in a prepared area there is a greater chance that they will find a common language.

First, a container with a cat is brought into the room; she needs to be left alone for some time so that she becomes familiar with the new conditions. Only after the cat has studied everything and calmed down can the male be brought into the room. An indicator that mating will take place with the expected result is normal, typical behavior of animals. If a cat immediately began to show aggression towards each other, it is unlikely that their acquaintance will lead to anything.

If the cat likes the male, a short period of flirting begins. The animals exchange greetings, after which the cat, after petting the cat several times, allows him to come closer to her. If the female does not like the partner chosen by the owners, she will begin to behave aggressively: she will hiss and growl, and may even bite a cat who tries to come closer to her. Owners must monitor how animals behave. If aggressive behavior occurs, pets should be immediately separated and isolated.

Act of intimacy

As soon as the seals have gotten used to each other, got acquainted and exchanged greetings, after a short sexual foreplay, the female allows the male to approach her, making it clear that she is ready for sexual intercourse by standing in a specific position - with an emphasis on her hind legs, raising her pelvis and tail high . The cat approaches the female from behind, digs her teeth into her nape, and hugs her from the sides with her front paws.

The actual process of intercourse lasts very quickly, with instant ejaculation. At the same time, the cat will purr, and the female will scream heart-rendingly (this scream has its own good reasons). After sexual intercourse, the cats separate in a rather specific manner - the cat with a sharp movement jumps away from the female, who in turn hits him with her paw.

Consider spaying your cat

Unless you decide to breed cats, you should seriously consider spaying your cat, whether male or female.

The Queen can become pregnant up to five times a year. On the other hand, a male cat may impregnate several queens in your area multiple times because they do not need to come into heat to mate.

Spaying your queen and neutering your male cat can go a long way toward reducing the feral cat population boom. Shelters are overflowing with unwanted kittens, which are often euthanized when few are willing to adopt.

Additionally, just one kitten added to a feral cat population can significantly contribute to overpopulation.

In addition to helping control the feral cat population, neutering offers several significant benefits for cats, from reduced health risks to overall improved health and well-being.

If you are not prepared to deal with the problems associated with cat breeding, your best bet is to get your cat fixed.

False pregnancy

In cats it occurs less frequently than in dogs, but it still occurs. False pregnancy occurs due to problems with seminal fluid in males. This can happen for a number of reasons:

  • Sperm does not have time to accumulate due to frequent matings.
  • Infectious and other diseases that lead to the non-viability of sperm.
  • Weak activity of germ cells.

At the same time, the female is actively preparing for gestation. With palpation, you can even feel small lumps on the abdomen. The cat's nipples swell and colostrum forms. In most cases, after the term has expired, the cat imitates childbirth, but no offspring appear.

False pregnancy is a huge stress for a pet. Hormonal levels, like behavior, change dramatically. Health deteriorates until medical intervention. In extreme cases, a cat can avoid mating for a long time, even in severe heat.

How to prevent unpleasant consequences? The only option is a competent approach to choosing a partner. Ask the cat owner about previous pregnancies of his females.

IMPORTANT! When looking for a partner, special attention should be paid to vaccinations. It is not uncommon for a cat to infect a cat with various infectious diseases - herpes, calcivirus, etc.

When does puberty begin in cats?

For owners of females, the problem of mating their pet becomes relevant already at 6-7 months of their pet’s life: it is at this time that the cat begins her first heat. Of course, cats should not be mated at this moment, because the animal is still developing (and puberty and physical maturation are not the same thing!), but even then you need to think about future searches for a partner.

The situation is similar for owners of males: cats mature by 7-8 months, but if at this age castration is quite appropriate, then cats do not yet need mating: the animal is not yet ready for it!

If you don't know how old your pet is, the onset of puberty can be determined by certain changes in his behavior. In cats this manifests itself in:

  • the appearance of more characteristic behavior (if previously the kitten was affectionate and gentle, now it may become a little aggressive),
  • trying to mark territory,
  • attempts to adapt various soft things for their sexual needs.

The signs of maturation in a cat are as follows:

  • loud inviting meow,
  • changes in gait (during heat, the cat raises its tail and arches its back),
  • rolling on the floor
  • changes in character - some cats become more aggressive, and some, on the contrary, become affectionate.

End of estrus

If professionals plan mating, they usually choose the middle or end of the cycle. In the last 3-4 days, there is a gradual stabilization of hormonal levels. The only risk is that if you calculate incorrectly, then there may be no additional time for re-matings. The heat will end, and you will have to wait for the next opportunity.

How should a cat behave after mating during this period? She usually calms down almost immediately. But you need to make allowances for the individual characteristics of the animal.

Features of sexual hunting

From 8 months the cat is considered sexually mature. If the male does not live in a closed room (apartment) and has free access to the street, during this period he begins to disappear from the house for a long time in search of a sexual object. The owners will immediately understand that their pet has grown up - during the onset of puberty, he begins to meow frequently at night.

The behavior and character of the cat changes, it may become more aggressive. Sexual activity among representatives of the cat world is well expressed. If a pet does not have access to the street, it can imitate sexual intercourse using soft toys and wool clothing. Every time the cat will react violently if a sexually mature female is next to him. If a pet lives in a private home, the owners need to try very hard to keep it from escaping.

For the first sexual intercourse, a sexually mature cat will always choose an experienced female who has already given birth.

If mating occurs in a cat without sexual experience, the owners of the animals should bring them to mating no more than once a month. When they become more experienced and learn to behave appropriately, mating can be carried out 2 times a week.

Estrus calendar for cats

The age of the first heat depends on the month the cat was born. Sexual hunting does not begin until six months, but usually does not occur in late autumn and winter.

Pregnancy, cats and signs

There are many folk signs associated with the presence of a cat in a pregnant woman’s house. Many of them are very real and practical recommendations that are useful for every expectant mother.

Sign No. 1. A pregnant woman should not pick up a cat. Modern women know: cats are carriers of toxoplasmosis

That is why the expectant mother should be careful around cats and remember to wash her hands after playing with her pet. For women who are immune to toxoplasmosis, this sign is not relevant.

Sign No. 2

A cat in a pregnant woman's bed means trouble. It is believed that if a cat tries to settle down next to the expectant mother, then something is wrong with her baby. Actually this is not true. Pets simply get used to being close to a person, falling asleep on his pillow and purring under his ear. This habit has nothing to do with the condition of the fetus.

Sign No. 3. You should not allow a cat to sleep on the chest of a pregnant woman - there will be no milk. This sign has no scientific basis. An expectant mother should not actually allow a cat to sleep on her chest, but only for her own safety. In addition, a large, heavy cat can, with its weight, damage the tissue of the mammary glands, which are especially sensitive during pregnancy. Breast injury can subsequently lead to a lack of milk and lactostasis.

Sign No. 4. Having a tricolor kitten is good luck. The color of a domestic cat does not in any way affect the well-being of the family. On the contrary, a pregnant woman should not have a kitten during this period. The likelihood of suddenly developing an allergy to a new pet or contracting toxoplasmosis (if the expectant mother has not previously had contact with cats) is too high. It is also possible that a conflict will develop between the growing animal and the baby. It is better to postpone the appearance of a kitten until the child grows up and is able to establish contact with a pet.
