Wellkiss food for cats

Wellkiss is a brand of food for cats and dogs. Products of this brand are manufactured at the factories of several European companies. Thus, Wellkiss dry food is produced by the Belgian company United Petfood Producers, and wet food by the French company La Normandise and the Dutch plant De Haan Petfood. A separate Delice series is produced by the German factory Landguth Heimtiernahrung (“Langut Heimtiernahrung”). These enterprises also produce other European cat foods - Dukes Farm, Grandorf and Mealfeel.

Advantages and disadvantages of Wellkiss food

The main advantages of Wellkiss food include the following:

• meat components in the composition are listed in first place (which means that the content of meat and offal in the composition predominates);
• the food contains minerals and vitamins (the composition of the additives is described in detail);
• Both dry and wet food have been developed in different flavors.

Main disadvantages:

• not all components are indicated precisely (some wording is vague: “cereals”, “meat derivatives”, etc.);
• the packaging does not indicate which preservatives and antioxidants are used;
• slightly overpriced (a pouch weighing 100 g costs from 39 rubles, and dry food in a bag weighing 400 g costs from 190 rubles).

What class of feed does Wellkiss food belong to?

Cat food is divided into 4 classes:

• economy - cheap food, often advertised and offered in almost any store (they contain almost no meat, artificial preservatives, dyes and flavor enhancers are added, and the source of protein is cheap cereals);
• premium - food that may contain meat and offal, but in small quantities, and dyes and flavoring additives may be natural;
• superpremium - products with a meat content of up to 65%, they can be purchased in specialized stores and online platforms;
• Holistic is the most expensive food that is not advertised at all (the food can contain up to 100% meat, a minimum of additives, and even a person can eat such food).

The creators of Wellkiss recipes position their products as premium food, but some cat owners classify it as super premium.

The first ingredient, meat and meat derivatives (turkey 14%), is a source of animal protein. The total percentage of this ingredient is not specified, only that it includes 14% lamb. It is also not indicated how much meat, but how much meat derivatives and what exactly these derivatives are.

The second ingredient is cereals, it is specified that they include 14% rice. However, what other grains are used besides it is not indicated (it is quite possible that some source of vegetable protein, such as wheat gluten, is hidden among the lower ones).

Further in the composition there are not many ingredients at all - derivatives of plant origin (lecithin 0.5%, inlin 0.2%), oils and fats (sources of fatty acids, it is not specified which oils and fats). Yeast (source of B vitamins), minerals (listed in healthy supplements).

In general, the composition of the food does not correspond to the premium class, it is rather economy class. After all, all ingredients are described in general formulations, behind which processed products are usually hidden.

Advantages and disadvantages

The benefits of the food include:

• the meat ingredient comes first;
• a good vitamin and mineral supplement for economy class;
• a wide range of both dry and wet food.

Disadvantages of Wellkiss food:

• the meat derivatives, cereals, and plant ingredients used are not specified.
• the preservatives and antioxidants used are not specified;
• relatively high price, many with significantly better feed composition are cheaper.

Recipe

We analyze the characteristics of the composition using the example of kitten food.

The manufacturer does not provide details about the composition of the feed. From the information on the packaging, it is clear that chicken meat derivatives, as well as cereals, mainly rice, are used equally to make the dry product. Apparently, the feed included waste from chicken and grain processing.

It is not clear what plant derivatives are. It is possible that soybean meal, wheat or corn gluten was used. In addition to the fiber from the plant components, purified cellulose was added. The feed mixture included 4% fish and its derivatives. Yeast was added in small quantities, as well as egg powder. The feed mixture is saturated with fats, but the manufacturer does not say which ones. The inclusion of taurine smoothes out feed deficiencies.

The feed mixture contains 34% proteins, 22% fats, 2% crude fiber, microelements, and vitamins. In terms of the concentration of nutrients, the food corresponds to the premium class, but in terms of composition it falls short of it due to incomplete information about the components.
