General information

The Husse brand produces premium and super-premium food for cats and dogs (including holistic), both dry and canned. Regardless of the class of diet, they are all made exclusively from natural ingredients, without the use of GMOs, artificial colors and flavors.

In addition, the company produces treats for cats and dogs, functional food supplements, cosmetics and accessories for pets.

Carbohydrates, fiber and supplements in Huss Opus Links

Whatever the characteristics of dry food, it cannot be prepared completely without carbohydrates - the manufacturer of Husse Opus Lynx Grain Free chose potatoes (No. 2) and peas (No. 4) as a replacement for grains.

A review of the composition revealed that “Hussa Opus Links” for cats also contains a dedicated source of fiber - plant fibers. In theory, they should improve the intestinal motility of cats, but the dubious origin of the raw materials prevents such a supplement from being highly rated.

This product also contains prebiotics - brewer's yeast containing mannan-oligosaccharides, as well as isolated fructo-oligosaccharides. These ingredients nourish the beneficial intestinal microflora, helping to maintain the correct microbial balance there.

The composition also contains several other additives: emulsifier lecithin, useful for the structure of cell membranes, yucca extract, which reduces the odor of feces, as well as a number of sources of antioxidants (marigold extract, rosemary, green tea, tocopherols). They preserve food in a natural way, without adding powerful, chemically synthesized preservatives.

Compound

Wet food is available in cans of 400 and 415 g (pate and oven-cooked pieces) and in pouches (pieces in sauce). The first include types for adult, sterilized and senior cats. Beef, rabbit, turkey and chicken are used in production. All types of canned food are made without soy or preservatives.

Husse super-premium dry diets are distinguished by a fairly transparent composition, the absence of “smearing” of ingredients and the meat indicated in the dry residue. It may not seem like much - for example, Digest food contains 16% dehydrated lamb and 16% chicken, but this is more than 1500 g of fresh meat per 1 kg of food. Thus, the attractive phrase “70% fresh lamb meat” from a marketing point of view, often used by other manufacturers, in fact means an insignificant amount of meat, which goes into the feed in dry (dehydrated) form.

In addition to super-premium diets for kittens and adult cats, Husse has food for animals with special needs: for sensitive digestion (Digest), for sterilized (Sterilized), active (Active), cats prone to excess weight gain (Light) and cats with problems urinary system (Urinary). This allows you to choose a diet for almost any animal.

Separately, it is worth highlighting the grain-free food Opus Lynx. This is a food with a very high meat content. The main ingredients are chicken (50%) and potatoes (18%). The composition contains high-quality functional additives. The food has a very high nutritional value, the protein and fat content is 40% and 20%, respectively. Despite being as close as possible to natural diets, this food is not suitable for all pets. If the cat is inactive, overweight or prone to it, or has a history of problems with the kidneys or gastrointestinal tract, it is better to choose another option.

In premium foods, things are somewhat worse - the exact source of meat and its percentage are not indicated, and there is no clarification of what grains are used in the composition. However, the food remains highly digestible (90%) and the food in this segment has a reasonable price and attractive taste. If your cat does not have a specific diet requirement, Kroketter food can be considered as a permanent diet. The balance of protein and fat (32% and 16% respectively) makes it suitable for most animals.

First impression of the Husse brand

The manufacturer informs that to create this food, he drew inspiration from the diet familiar to wild lynx - “Inspired by the diet of wild lynx”. Of course, it’s good that the product does not contain grain, but we are sure that potatoes are not included in the wild lynx’s diet.

The design of the package is generally restrained in color and style, but the packaging features a funny face of a cat with a red bow around its neck. There is also the inscription Husse Sweden - “Hussey Sweden” against the background of the colors of the Swedish flag, reminiscent of the country of production of this diet.

It’s good that the food does not contain grains and gluten - this is evidenced by the marks “Grain Free Formula” and “No Gluten” on the front of the pack. The packaging also contains the note “40% Protein, 90% Animal Protein”. This means that the diet contains as much as 40% protein, 90% of which is of animal origin - certainly not bad indicators.

• Absence of soy, GMOs, artificial colors, flavor enhancers and preservatives in all feeds;
• The line includes both dry and wet food.

However, there are also negative sides:

• The line of canned food is quite meager both in types and in packaging (mostly only large cans);
• The presence of wheat in some diets, which can cause an allergic reaction;
• Packages start from 2 kg;
• High price.

At the same time, unfortunately, the percentage of the key ingredients of the food is unclear, since we do not see any numbers on the label. If the manufacturer had clearly stated the proportions of the first 2-5 components, perhaps the rating of Husse Opus Lynx Grain Free would be higher due to the bonus we give to every diet containing animal protein sources above 60%. So far there is no reason to appoint him.
